A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

It takes courage to seek psychotherapy.

The word “courage” derives from “heart”. Indeed, it is with your heart that you reach out for therapy. Asking for help is no easy task. In many cases it is possible to “tough it out” and ignore one’s emotional aches and pains — and some take pride in this. However, much of life’s sweetness and depth will be missed in the process.

When effective, the therapeutic relationship can bring about deep change in one’s life. Grief and loss may bubble to the surface. Wants and needs may reveal themselves. Joy and passion may awaken. Love and intimacy may be experienced more deeply in relationships.

Therapy will likely bring up challenging feelings. However, the process always moves at your own pace. I believe that the journey is well worth it.
